A game by baræ

Bible word categories with friends

A Bible answer. Then pass it on.

One category. One answer.
And the phone moves on.

A Bible category appears, with or without a required letter depending on the format. Answer aloud, then pass the phone. The category stays the same throughout the round and answers cannot repeat. When the angels sing, the person holding the phone is eliminated.

The idea

How does it work?

A timer nobody can see.

01Play!

Choose how to play

Keep the default mix, or select letter categories or free categories in settings. The game contains 6 letter categories and 30 free categories. Start the game; a countdown comes before the first category.

02Pass!

Answer, then pass the phone

Say a valid answer aloud, then physically pass the phone to the next player. There is no button to tap after each answer. If you get stuck, keep the phone and keep thinking.

03Again?

The angels sing: who has the phone?

The hidden timer ends with angels singing. Whoever is still holding the phone is eliminated. Continue with the remaining players; the last one still in wins.

Behind the scenes at baræ

Playing stays free.

The goal stays the same: games everyone can play for free.

Several generations of a family enjoy a game together at home.
The best part happens between you.

Made to share

One answer.
Then pass it on.

Free categories let you draw on Bible memories; letter categories add a constraint. You need a new answer, without reciting a verse word for word.

With your group

For a Christian gathering, youth group or family familiar with Bible stories. Choose free categories to remove the letter constraint.

Choose your pace

By default, the duration is randomly selected between 20 seconds and 3 minutes. You can adjust the limits before playing. The remaining time stays hidden; the music does not reveal when the round will end.

Your turn to play

Get a game ready
in three steps.

  1. Gather in a circle

Gather at least two players around one phone. Leave enough room to pass it from hand to hand.

  2. Set the timing

Keep the suggested times or adjust them in settings. Agree on acceptable answers before starting.

  3. Give the phone to the first player

Start the round and wait for the countdown. The group checks spoken answers and keeps track of eliminations.

Good questions

Before you
get started.

The rules and practical details for enjoying the game together.

Do I need Bible knowledge?

Yes. Categories draw on Bible people, stories, places and ideas. Exact references and verbatim verse recitation are not required. For a group without Bible knowledge, Babel and Damas offer Bible-inspired alternatives.

Is a specific initial letter required?

Only in letter categories. Ignore leading articles and accents. Free categories have no letter constraint. Agree on acceptable variants of Bible names before playing.

Who checks the answers?

The group checks spoken answers and keeps track of eliminations. The phone does not recognize speech. An answer already used in the round cannot be repeated.

How long does a round last?

By default, the duration is randomly selected between 20 seconds and 3 minutes. You can adjust the limits before playing. The remaining time stays hidden; the music does not reveal when the round will end.

How does the game end?

Start another round with the remaining players and a new theme. The last player still in the game wins; use the game’s button to declare this. The number of rounds depends on the group.
